What are the best podcast-hosting and -streaming services?
I’m looking for a service that will let me host my podcasts on their site, but will give me options to stream them on my own site. Gabcast seems like a good option, but are there others I’m not seeing?
Hmm, try www.odeo.com
What web hosting services include Front Page extensions?
What are the best web hosting services that have Front Page extensions installed on the servers?
Hi,
I suggest you this company: http://www.hostmonster.com/track/getafree/[y]
for me is the best deal quality/price on the web.
You have front page extension but also so many other services:
you can host unlimited domains in one account and you have 300 gb space.
An extremely interesting feature is Fantastico.
Fantastico is a collection of pre-installed script which allows you to install forums, image galleries, blogs, even live chat programs on your website in few clicks.
this company also offers you a great control panel with statistics, credit card support, unlimited email, unlimited MySql databases and much more … I suggest you to have a look.
Can I sue company for holding my domain name and website design?
I had a website designed by a company and paid for that design. My account with them is due I didn’t pay for the renewal and they took my site down. They are holding my domain name and the design is gone. Can they do that? Isn’t that website design mine and if so how do I get it? Can they hold my domain name? They are costing me loss of money here what do I do? I don’t want to renew with them because they are overcharging me for the domain name and the webhosting.
Well how much are they overcharging? ….Most of these companies are very competative so I can’t see the difference in price between them and other companies being very much…and in that case if your talking $20 or $30 WHO CARES!
If you sue them..the cost of that event will be monumentally greater than the difference of your other hosting service….times ten. So..thats really not a logical option.
Get your site up and focus on making more money with actual sales, not by penny pinching expenses.
For now I would pay the bill for the next year….and during that time, have your domain ownership registration transferred to you personally. Obtain the website on CD in HTML format and the raw design format (The actual files from whatever design software was used to create the pages)
Until you do those things, they have you by the *alls
Good Luck
Is joomla good for website design clients?
I design websites but need a way that clients can manage and edit their content. Could joomla be used for someone with little/no web design knowledge to edit a website’s text etc.?
Joomla’s does have a bit of a learning curve when it comes to management of the site hierarchy. Submitting, modifying and deleting articles on a Joomla CMS setup is relatively easy, and can be learned with a quick morning training session.
When I would present CMS options to clients as a consultant, I would always include in the quote time for training and technical support. It is definitely not a product that just anyone will pick up and master without thinking, it will involve a bit of training. All that said, it is an excellent option to provide a client who wishes to be able to have updates at their fingertips, you should just make sure that they are aware that using this CMS, or any CMS for that matter, does take a bit more expertise than a standard user may have. They won’t have to be a power user by any stretch, but they will need to be a less timid user who isn’t afraid to explore what’s behind all the buttons.
I would also advise providing a good deal of literature and documentation to any client that you offer a CMS set up to.
Set to Publish Your Design to the Web. Right
Wrong, though you’re on the right track, you might have overlooked what research is now calling one of the most crucial elements in site design: color. Having the right color scheme might be one of the ways to make or break your site. Since you only have about the first ten seconds of a user’s attention span, you need to ensure that what they first see catches their eye.
The fact that users are visiting your site means you’ve got the core elements of design on target, but now you have to keep them there. True, you’ll need great a great sales pitch and copy but don’t underestimate the importance of a color’s psychology.
Colors mean different things to different people and can symbolize different things in different cultures. For instance, if you’re marketing your website for Asian users, a green hat with a white carnation as a corporate logo might seem creative but it might also get you backlasher and I’ll explain why. A green hat in China means a man’s wife is cheating on him and the white carnation symbolizes death in Japan. Using the two in conjunction is a definite no-no.
However, using bright blue or bright of any color is a bad idea since the human eye will need to adjust to each color and it will put unneeded strain on their eyes.
Pink normally represents softness and gentility, which is why it is often used in baby care products while orange which symbolizes potency and power is normally, used in vitamins and health products, energy drinks etc.
Consider Newton’s first law – every action must have an equal and opposite reaction. For each color that you choose, there will be a different reaction to it by every user approaching that site. The question now becomes: how do you know which color won’t affront?
Let’s say you just love the blue/purple combination and have a nature-based website. Users do not often associate purple or blue with nature. Green and yellow might be more useful, with yellow used sparingly and green used predominantly due to its generally calming nature.
Multicolored websites have the least visitation span with the span reducing with the introduction of each new color. For more detail go to: www.master-web-graphics.com. In general, not more than five different colors should be used on a single page.
Concluding, each website is defined not only by the content but by its color – an indirect approach to marketing and propagating a message. While we use body language, websites use colors to demonstrate the subtleties and finer text.
Colors should not be used to support information, but rather to represent the site’s message and remain consistent throughout the website.
