Anyone have any top tips for link building for websites?

Link building strategies I am interested in, not link farms as that is black hat seo but fair and simple link exchange

If you really want to get into the underbelly of some awesome SEO techniques, especially link building, I would read the link building section of Stuntdubl’s SEO Playbook – and make sure you read every article he’s linked to regarding link building:

Another reliable resource is SEOmoz.org. They have a link building book for sale and they are extremely reliable and informative. (I haven’t purchased it yet. I intend to within the next few days!)
