The term search engine optimization has become a much hackneyed term in the recent times. The role of internet in our everyday lives has increased to such an extent that it is impossible to imagine a life without it. The advent of internet has also altered the way people conduct business. People today have less time on their hands and want to get things as quickly as possible. Thus people as well as companies find it much more convenient to conduct business on the internet. This is where the role of search engine optimization comes into prominence. In the present world which is dominated by internet, it is mandatory that companies have a website dedicated to the products and services they are offering to their customers. The search engines list the websites submitted to them on the basis of several factors that are represented by the mathematical algorithm that they use. Search engine optimization refers to the process of making efforts to make the website of a company rank higher on the search engines result pages (SERP). Some of the major search engines are Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
The higher a website is ranked on the search engines more the number of visitors to that site. As discussed earlier there are several factors that determine the ranking of a website on the search engine. Search Engine Optimization could also mean targeting different types of searches like local search and image search. As a matter of fact all the search engines keep their methodology of ranking a website a closely guarded secret. This has led to several search engine optimization companies resorting to unfair and unacceptable methods of getting their client’s website appear higher in the search engine. This practice is widely known as Black Hat SEO and is strongly abhorred by the search engines. Search engines keep on evolving methods to locate and remove such websites from their list. White Hat SEO refers to the methods used by the SEOs that are accepted and appreciated by the search engines.
Another aspect of search engine optimization is focusing on what people search and how they go about doing it on the net. Based on their knowledge about the customer’s perspective of looking up for a product or services the SEOs use keywords and phrases that can be used as reference to their site. There are many other methods that the SEOs use to get their client’s website rank higher on the net.

Two Arduino boards have an LED pointed at each other, and by using the LED as a photodiode are able to detect the other LED flashing.
To start with they both flash briefly and then look for another LED’s flash, if they capture the tail of another flash they immediately flash again, which is detected by the other LED, which flashes again etc.
This leads to very fast backwards/forwards flashing, and at this point the two devices are synchronised and the second red LED lights up.
While synchronised, data can be transferred, by altering the length of the flash. Holding down the button on each arduino transmits a binary 1 instead of the normal 0, which lights up the LED on the other board.
While the software doesn’t yet support longer streams of data, I plan to add this support so that small pieces of data could be sent from one to the other, with all sorts of uses, such as door locks/authentication/etc.

(remove the space between LED and comms! YouTube inserted it apparently).

Is having multiple domains display the same content considered black hat SEO or will it otherwise hurt rank?
Let’s say my name is Got Answers, and I’m in the chair selling business. I want as much organic SEO traffic as possible, in addition to my PPC traffic. I meet a lot of people around town, and of course, I have friends I’ve known a long time. My business card says gotanswers(dot)com on it b/c that’s my name and how they know me. On the other hand, people I don’t know who might be searching the web, might be more inclined to click on a link that says chairsalesman(dot)com and maybe even if I live in Boise Idaho I might want one that says chairsalesmanboise(dot)com . I have the same webpage I just want to upload it to several different domains to increase exposure and marketing. I’ve been reading Google Webmaster topics and can’t decide if this will help, hurt, or have no impact on my organic results.
What do you think? I figure it will at worst have no impact, I’m not really trying to trick the search engines, I’m just trying to make myself marketable to people I know, people I just met, people I’ve never met, etc.. and various urls might play better with different people..
In my opinion, it will not a proper Black Hat SEO but multiple domains of a same site will hurt the rank of the parent site. To gain more exposure in more regions of the world, you can make small page relating to different regions and connect them with the main web page promote those pages with the main page.
