Should I eliminate orphan pages for SEO?

Does it affect my site ranking to have many orphan pages? Should I eliminate them or just ignore them and focus on the web architecture of my pages are are linked together? Thanks.

Because I made an extreme makeover for my website, a complete redesign! So I have A LOT of orphan pages.

If they are truely orphan pages then the search engines will not know about them so there is no need to worry about them.

Personally I would probably look at adding internal links to the pages though, if you spent the time writing them why should you be happy that they are ophaned ?

    Are those pages useless?

    If yeah,
then remove. This is wasting your money by occupying extra space in your server.

    If no,
then interlink with your website’s other pages. This will help your users to move around in other pages of your websites.

Be careful before deleting so called orphan pages. They may not be linked to other pages in your website but it’s possible that other websites may be linking to them + they may actually be indexed in google and other search engines.

If you delete them people will get an error message and you would have lost a visitor or visitors. + Always remember that google may have already ranked your page in which case deleting it will take away some of your ranking points.

You can always do a 301 redirect to a web page that is part of your website which will allow people to land on a page that is linked.

There are tools you can use that will help tell you if a page is indexed and or already linked to.

Just be careful before deleting anything.

    Regards

    Steve
