I’m sorry, I still don’t really understand. Do I need to do anything special to my page or edit my HTML for keywords or tags? Do keywords have anything to do with the meta tag? Don’t search engines eignore the meta tag? And what do tags have to do with it? (I have a blog, I thought I already have tags?) Thanks.
SEO has evolved. Basically it can be summed up to:
Building targeted pages and getting links.
People try and make it more complicated, but that is the grass roots level of SEO today.
That comes straight from Leslie Rohde and Jerry West, two of the most respected SEOs.

Does it affect my site ranking to have many orphan pages? Should I eliminate them or just ignore them and focus on the web architecture of my pages are are linked together? Thanks.

Because I made an extreme makeover for my website, a complete redesign! So I have A LOT of orphan pages.
If they are truely orphan pages then the search engines will not know about them so there is no need to worry about them.
Personally I would probably look at adding internal links to the pages though, if you spent the time writing them why should you be happy that they are ophaned ?

I read some article on Black hat and I don’t understand what is really all about.
Black hat is a common term known to search engine optimisers, it is considered as unethical techniques used to get websites increased exposure in search engines.
Search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN wants to ensure they are showing relevant results to their end users. For those who employ successful “Black Hat” or “Unethical” techniques to get their sites to show up in the search results pages, more often than not, will not give you the information you were looking for.

I have a business blog section on my website. It’s basically an area of the website I can regularly update so that the content on my website is fresh. This is supposed to be good for my website in terms of search engines crawlers (apparently they’ll return more often).
But would I benefit more if I also have a blog in a proper blogging environment such as Blogger, Wordpress etc. with links to various related pages in my website. I guess the upside would be that I would have relevent inbound links but the downside would be that I wouldn’t have the blog on my own site which means no regularly updated content.
Unless I run the blogs simultaneaously, but would that be seen as some sort of Black Hat technique due to the content being duplicated on an external blog which is linking back?
HELP!
Thanks in advance.
Having both blog on my website and on an external system is an option I’m open to, although I feared that I may be marked as a black hat by Search Engines.
If not then I may as well go for that.
You seem right on the ball with this one…
Believe me, if you do both, I can assure you that you wont be marked as black hat, don’t worry about it. I suggest that you do both, it will truly help you in the end.
However, if you need to chose one or the other, which do you think will attract more visitors? Clearly, it seems like your goal is to rank higher; but itsn’t the goal in the end to recieve more visitors?
If you have an outside blog, how many people will see it? Will it do anything for you? Will you market that blog? If so, how?
How many people are currently looking at your website? Will a blog on your website help retain visitors and help sell your company from there?
Depending on the search engine, there’s far more to SEO than just links; inbound & external. It’s also how many clicks on the page once visited, how long vistitors stay on the page, and so on.
Inwhich case, having both will help trumendously!

I found a directory with bunch of expired domain names – the directory page where those domain names are actually has PR = 3
my plan is to redirect them to my main domain
Is it good for SEO or matters little?
Not if the search engines catch you. Than bad things will happen to your search ranking.
In my experience, It’s much more effective to simply blog (v6transition.com) about your site and to have a facebook (facebook.com) account for your site.

I am still stuck on the Yahoo Website Services to host my domain name and website and I have had so many problems lately. Does anyone else still use this old service? Emails to me are often bouncing back to people with errors or show up anywhere from hours to days later. I have sent multiple emails to customer care without any response. Their network status page hasn’t been updated since Dec 2005! I think the service is on autopilot. I want to give up and change Hosting Services but I can’t get a response from the contacts in my whois listing so I can transfer the domain ownership. Seems like no one is home. Anyone else have these problems? How can I get in touch with a human at Yahoo to help me?
I have never used Yahoo but doing a quick search under help I found this article that tells you how to change your name server:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/domains/domainfeatures/advanceddns/advanceddns-12.html
Once you do get it figured out you should really switch hosts.
I use godaddy to register all my domain names and for my hosting i use :

Good Luck!

What are the best free web Hosting Services online and are there any sites that will register a domain name completely for free and let you make it up however you want? EX. www.(yourpreferedname).com
You will not find free domain like yourname.com unless you exchange some service with domain e.g. posting at forums etc…
If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don’t go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.
I would like to suggest following webhosting , they are excellent.
Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/
They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.
Visit the site to check details.

Domains
Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.
