Earning By Means of a Blog
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 3 years, you probably know what a blog is by now. Most internet marketers have tried setting up and testing blog as a viable source of income online. With the help of WordPress.org, Blogger.com and Typepad, any person who has internet at home can blog.
So, how much longer do you have to work on your blog for it to show some profits? In order to have a successful blog, you need a great layout, original content, and a way to make cash from your content. It’s pretty difficult to build a business around blogging without any means to earn an income.
Here are some suggestions on how to earn online using a blog…
You can rent out your blog’s sidebar, or any other spot that merchants can use to set up shop. If you don’t find them fast enough, you can always rely on adsense or any PPC advertising program like chitika. Just remember to comply with all the rules so that you don’t get banned from using these networks. Set aside a prime location on your blog to offer to advertisers.
But you still need to maintain the quality of your blog even if you’re selling advertising space. Your blog’s traffic depends on your reader base so you need to make sure your ads are not overwhelming the content.
One way to earn by blogging is to sell other people’s products as an affiliate. Make sure the products you affiliate yourself with are worth buying. Your readers will see through you if you’re just promoting a product but you don’t mention using it.
But there’s a certain minus factor to being an affiliate and a blogger at the same time. Unlike regular bloggers who can talk about anything under the sun, your content must be pretty regular and consistent. For instance, if you want to promote diet products, you must talk about healthy food and fitness regularly. This is easy enough to do but you won’t be able to write about personal stuff that isn’t related to your niche regularly anymore.
Setting up shop using a blog takes some guts. You will have a subscriber base that expects you to post regularly, and an advertiser base that expects high volume of traffic from your blog. You’ll also need to keep the traffic going by asking for link exchanges and listing your blog in directories.
When your blog is popular enough, you can go for another earning alternative. You can sell your blog for a hefty fee. Forums like digital point and sitepoint are places where you can sell your blog.
Those who are persistent enough have earned a lot. Some blogs have become authority sites overnight because of good content. If you have the resources to hire someone to do this for you, it would probably be worth the price, especially if they have experience in the area.
